This post is the fifth in a series of weekly training updates leading up to the 2015 Boston Marathon on April 20, 2015.
We’re less than a month to go! The Boston Marathon is quickly approaching, and tensions are definitely rising within my training group as we sharpen our daggers for the big day.
We had a very tough week in practice, with three hard ones. Both Tuesday and Thursday’s workouts went really well, while Saturday’s long run with a close turned into an epic meltdown. I think the issue was that we were doing 24 miles with a 30 minute close, and I didn’t take care of my body well enough in the miles leading up to those last 30 minutes. The course was hilly and challenging, and the easy pace didn’t feel easy on the day. I have to remember that not every run is going to go perfectly, but this training block is the best one that I’ve ever had.
